            THE BIG QUESTION:-

IS THE STATUE REALLY WORTH & WILL IT INCREASE OUR COUNTRY’S ECONOMY?

The total amount of money spent of constructing the Statue of Unity is 2989 crores($ 420 million). Will the government recover it? Let’s find out!

For visiting the Statue of Unity you can buy a Standard ticket of Rs.120/- or a Premium ticket of Rs.350/-.

First thing first, the most visited tourist destination in India is the Taj Mahal which attracts about 70-80 lakhs(7-8 million) peoples from across the globe. Now let us assume the same number of people visit the Statue of Unity annually.

The average cost of ticket for visiting the Statue of Unity let’s say Rs.250/- (Average of Standard & Premium ticket). Now let us assume half the number of people visit the Statue of Unity  i.e 35 lakhs (3.5 millionpeople visit annually. then, (250*3500000)=87.5 crores,($ 12.3 million)

So annually the government will earn 87.5 Crores($ 12.3 million) which means that it will take 34 more years just to break even. So by 2052 the government will get his money back. This Calculation does not include maintenance charges & also it is only an assumption that it will attract 35 lakhs (3.5 million)of people annually.

THE BITTER TRUTH:-

In reality considering all the expenses, the government will have to wait for 50 years to make profit. Also the fact that the Second tallest statue in the world Spring Temple Buddha (153 meters) (China) is worth Rs.393 crores($ 55 million ).

This particular statue is just 29 meters shorter than the Statue of Unity. But the amount spent on the Statue of Unity is 2989 crores. I mean really…….
So what’s your opinion about the Statue of Unity!!!!!!
